Steps for Change - 3000km walk of New Zealand for youth obesity and mental health

$200 donated
Given by 4 generous donors in around 6 months

Anyone can do anything with small steps towards large change! I intend to prove this by walking the 3000km Te Araroa trail.

Nationwide

Hey I'm Josh and over the next 6 months I will be walking the 3000km length of the Te Araroa trail to raise awareness for obesity, fitness, health and mental health. On top of this I intend to raise well needed funds for three amazing organisations working inside these fields.

These organisations are:

The Monty Betham Steps for Life Foundation

This is an amzing cause with a mission to empower NZ youth and their families to live healther lives through providing sustainable programmes that improve our health and wellbeing of our nation. Check our their incredible programmes and more info on their website!

The Health Navigator Trust

The Health Navigator website provides one place for New Zealanders to find reliable and trustworthy health information and self care resources to help you navigate the health information maze . It focuses on promoting clear, consistent messages that enable users to get the information they need at the time they need it. Incredible stuff, check them out!

Live More Awesome

These guys have simple goals to start as many open and honest conversations about mental health as humanely possible in order to help normalise it and reduce the stigma surrounding it, unspire and encourage as many people to ask for help with their mental health as possible and to help direct all of the people who ask for help to specific help in their area.

That’s it. Simple goals with MASSIVE implications.

It would mean the world to me if you would help me in supporting these causes by donating to this page so these organisations can expand their operations and their support to even more areas and people.

Josh Thomson's involvement (page creator)

I am running this project because I have been there, I was the huge guy with no hope... and I made it through to gain some solid techniques to get my life on track! Now I want to help inspire others to do the same in their lives.

Six years ago I was 165kg and hopeless. I had been told by the doctor that if I didn't do something that I would be dead by 30... Instead of that motivating me to change it just sent me into the worst depression of my life, not leaving my home for weeks if not months on end. After watching the people who loved me trying to help for so long the idea that only I could make the change needed to move forward finally sunk in.

It was no longer an oh woe is me situation in my mind, I had turned it around to a "there must be a way" attitude. With heaps of hard work and many many many tiny little steps towards my change I eventually lost 70kg and found a way to put in place techniques to help me process through my anxiety and depression which I still deal with daily.

If I can do it so can anyone else! I truly believe that anyone can do anything, with one little step at a time! Help me spread this message far and wide. Let's make the world a better place!!!
