Help Dad spend time with Kate, kids and granddaughter for a trip to make memories to support and sustain us.
Wellington
Written by Demelza, Steve's eldest daughter:
Dad had been struggling with headaches, nausea along with Weight loss since December,
His GP sent him for both CT and MRI scan and this reveals a large mass in his right Brain hemisphere.
He was Sent to wellington to the special Neurology acute unit Wellington Hospital.
Neurology Team visit Dad, more scans and tests, then discussions about surgery were had.
Dad is diagnosed with Glioblastoma grade IV which is aggressive. They remove 90% of the mass and now we are entering into the treatment Phase. Dad and Kate are putting their stuff into storage while we all attend to the business end of treatment and recovery. We don’t know how long this will be and we know sick pay will run out and we would love to have one last trip with dad to a fun north island venue, probably Rotorua, Taupo, Dad wants to spend time with Kate, us kids Demelza, Gemma and Brad and Demelza’s child Phaedra to spend as much quality time as possible making memories to last and sustain us all. Lots of people asked how they can help and if they can give some money so we decided this would be the best way to do it. If you would like to donate to our family trip we would all be so humbled by your gift.
Thanks for your continued support for our Dad and Poppa.

One journey ends another Begins 24 August 2021
Steve has finished a tough 6 weeks of treatment and now we head to the recovery from treatment phase of the journey.
We’ve been told that the first couple of weeks will be very taxing on his body, very tired and muscle soreness.
After that we are expecting a progressive improvement for the 6 weeks after the four of recovery.
In another month we go to Wellington for CT and MRI to see how effective the treatment has been, and what the plan is from there.
This may include another round of chemo but this will be determined by efficacy of the first lot of treatment.
The children are in the planning stage of the holiday and are very excited of having quality time with dad. So expected an update soon of the anticipated journey that you all have contributed to make happen. Family continually to be overwhelmed by all the support for their dad and the flow affect for them. Thank you all for you wonderful generosity.
Here is a photo of Steve with our friend Véronique having a lunch at Mediterranean Food Warehouse in Wellington.
He is now sporting a Telly Savalas Hair do but without the lollipop.
