Stop Nine Storey Apartments in Stonefields

  • No appeal!! Celebratory drink tonight

      12 April 2017

Well the journey is at an end. As you may already know, Todd Property announced that they would not appeal the decision in the environment court.

This is essentially the end of this chapter of what has been an incredibly long yet intense effort.

On the 1st April 2016, Todd Property informed the community of this resource consent application. There was disbelief in the neighbourhood that Todd would push something like this onto the residents - design that did not show a lot of thought towards it's residents and a contradiction to what had originally been planned.

Almost a year to the day we have the opportunity to get this area back to what it was supposed to be.

Stonefields is one of the most unique, neighbourly suburbs in Auckland. A place where you can get to know your neighbour again and feel part of something. We want this to continue.

With the decision now final, and our money target achieved (ex GST) to pay our unbelievable professionals, (thank you all for your generosity) we would like to CELEBRATE and say THANK YOU to all of those who supported this cause.

We will be having a couple of drinks at the SPEIGHTS ALE HOUSE Thursday night 13th at 7:30. This will give us all the opportunity for a bit of a face-to-face and pat-on-the-back time

We hope to see you there

Matt, David, Bill, Karl, Catherine, John, Judy, Elaine

  • Consent Refused!!

      29 March 2017

    We did it!

Awesome effort by all involved and we couldn't have got there without the experts you have helped fund. So pat yourselves on the back!

We are still short by $6,000 so if you feel this decision was worth fighting for please donate.

    Extract from council summary below:

In terms of section 104(1)(a) and section 104C of the RMA 1991, the proposed development would result in an unacceptable level of adverse effects which are not balanced or offset by the positive effects (beyond those experienced by the applicant) arising from the comprehensive residential development of the site. There would be unacceptable adverse effects on the residential character and amenity of the surrounding environment, including bulk, scale, shading and visual amenity effects on the neighbours about the subject site which cannot be avoided or sufficiently mitigated

  • Hearing formally closed - more funds needed

      14 March 2017

Firstly apologies for the lack of an update.

The rest of the hearing went very well and enough questions were raised in the minds of the commissioners they came back and visit the site of the proposed development and the surrounding area.

From our perspective the experts were well worth the investment. They brought a level of knowledge and professionalism that we wouldn't have been able to deliver on our own.

The hearing was formally closed off on Friday 10th of March. A decision is now due around the 3rd April. We'll all wait with baited breaths!

An awesome effort has been made on the fundraising both through this site and directly into the bank account. The pleasing thing to see is so many households have stepped up with donations. It hasn't been left to a few individuals which reflects that we all view this as important for the community.

There is still a chance to contribute more through this page as we are still short of what is required to meet the costs incurred.

Many people donating will make it light on the pocket.

    Thanks for the continued support.

  • Hearing going well and we are hitting $15K in donations

      22 February 2017

A positive start to the hearing today with the Commissioners asking tough questions of the developer and some excellent presentations by local residents. The Lobby Group appears on Friday.

With the bank account now open we are now getting donations direct to that. I am pleased to say we are pretty close to $15,000 raised which is an awesome effort.

Thanks again to all those who have donated and for the kind support messages for the team.

    Great effort.
