Niki is standing up against the government and property developers in the GI community. Donate to support resistance against privatisation!
Auckland
We are still here and we are still fighting!
On Monday Ioela (Niki) Rauti is back in the District Court with her appeal against Tāmaki Redevelopment Company (TRC). Niki - alongside others in Tāmaki Housing Group - has been fighting the privatisation of state housing and gentrification of the GI community since 2011.
TRC was given 2,700 state houses in Glen innes in April 2016 and is now selling off the land to private property development companies. Niki and the Tāmaki Housing Group has been resisting that privatisation and profit-mongering since the redevelopment first began in September 2011. Now it is May 2017 and we are still here.
We need your support. Donate and/or join us 2pm on Monday 22 May outside the court. We will have banners and flyers to hand out, and buckets to collect donations from passerbys - we want to have a big presence outside the District Court in Central Auckland to show the public, the judges, the media, the politicians that Niki's case is BIGGER than just one woman.
(1) We are all here to fight privatisation in the middle of a housing crisis brought about by an unfettered profit-driven private housing market.
(2) Tāmaki Redevelopment Company is gentrifying Glen innes community, helping property developers make PROFIT$. GI is a community not a company
(3) Niki’s court case represents the resistance against a major privati$ation operation going on. Government is selling off state housing to the highest bidder.
Defend Niki, Defend State housing

I am fighting to stay in my home for all tenants. Property development companies and speculators don't have a right that trumps our rights to security of tenure and security of staying in our homes and our community.
The funds will be used to help with court costs and other costs relating to Niki's struggle to stay in her home.
