Niki is standing up against the government and property developers in the GI community. Donate to support resistance against privatisation!
Auckland
We are still here and we are still fighting!
On 5 June the District Court ruled against Ioela (Niki) Rauti in favour of Tāmaki Redevelopment Company (TRC). But Niki - and the dozens and dozens of supporters occupying 14 Taniwha St, Glen Innes with her - say its just the beginning. An appeal is being filed in the High Court. Niki, alongside Tāmaki Housing Group, has been fighting the privatisation of state housing and gentrification of the GI community since 2011.
TRC was given 2,700 state houses in Glen innes in April 2016 and is now selling off the land to private property development companies. Niki and the Tāmaki Housing Group has been resisting that privatisation and profit-mongering since the redevelopment first began in September 2011. Now it is June 2017 and we are still here.
We need your support. Join the occupation at 14 Taniwha St, Glen Innes, kai, blankets and money are all welcome as well.
(1) We are all here to fight privatisation in the middle of a housing crisis brought about by an unfettered profit-driven private housing market.
(2) Tāmaki Redevelopment Company is gentrifying Glen Innes community, helping property developers make PROFIT$. GI is a community not a company
(3) Niki represents the resistance against a major privati$ation operation going on. Government is selling off state housing to the highest bidder.
