Strength in Unity for Leon's Fight Against Cancer
Auckland
A message from Leon's family and friends.
Who is Leon Esterhuizen:
Leon is a 51-year-old male who moved to New Zealand less than a year ago on a work to residency visa, to pursue a dream of a better life for his family. He is a loving husband to his wife of 26 years, Karen, and a devoted father to his two children. He is kind, good humoured and selflessly cares for others. He embraces independence, and having to ask for help is very humbling for him.
Diagnosis and Surgery:
Recently, Leon faced a life-threatening diagnosis: pancreatic cancer and a collapsed artery. The diagnosis came as a big shock because there were no prior indications of illness, and he now requires urgent surgery to remove the cancer and to repair the artery. Leon's family rushed to New Zealand urgently to be by his side. His recovery journey will involve surgery, intensive care, chemotherapy, and rehabilitation, during which he will not be able to work.
Financial Support Needed:
*Leon's family who is still in the process of relocating to New Zealand faces financial strain due to his inability to receive an income during the six-month recovery period.
*They need support to cover living expenses, rent, food and family obligations.
*Your donation, regardless of the amount, matters! Please donate and spread the word to raise awareness.
Leon and his family deeply appreciate your generosity and compassion. Their greatest hope is to overcome this challenge and return to a normal life.
Let us stand together!
Hi, my name is Annique. I am a friend of the family, and my goal is to raise funds and assist Leon's family with any necessary arrangements during this challenging time.
Living expenses, food, rent, family obligations, travel cost for hospital visits (the accommodation is far from the hospital), flight cost (urgent flights were booked before the surgery date), financial support during chemotherapy treatment etc.
