Help get St Thomas of Canterbury Rugby League team to Nationals
- $1,150.00 donated
- 10 generous donors
we are competing in the NZ Secondary Schools Nationals in Auckland It is a long way from Christchurch and we need to raise $10,000.
Our team hope to compete in the New Zealand Secondary schools Rugby League Tournament in Auckland.
This is a costly exercise and we are seeking your help with donations or sponsorship.
The boys will be fundraising to get there but we need your help to get there.
We need to fund transport to Auckland, Accomodation, food, and the hiring of rental vans during the Tournament for 22 students and 3 staff.
St Thomas of Canterbury College students are passionate about rugby league and the College believe that any sports activity that engages a young person is a positive investment in the educational and life outcomes for the young people involved. We would greatly appreciate your support in helping this to happen for our young men.
A good deal of research shows that participation by youth in school sponsored sports favorably influences positive youth development and educational outcomes. Sports participation has been found to improve school achievement, increase chances of participation in further education, and increase likelihood of graduating from high school. Organized sport programs can also contribute to reducing youth crime by giving young people a positive identity, feelings of empowerment and by helping youth acquire leadership, teamwork and self-governance skills under adult supervision
Donations will be acknowledged in a number of ways including School Publications - magazines & newsletters; Media - NZ League Magazine and other local media.
Be sure to include your full name in Givealittle donations (Display Name Box) and sign up for email updates if you would like to be included in these acknowledgements.
Last year participation in this tournament was covered by Radio Sport, TV One, TV 3, Maori TV and sky TV, and is likely to be covered again this year.
