Helping to support students to allow them to participate in the Big Sing Finale

Manurewa, Auckland

Last year our choir was selected for the Big Cadenza in Rotorua and then won the group vocal category for Stand Up Stand Out secondary school

Performing arts. The positive publicity and exposure resulted in them being invited to perform at many events in the community.

In 2023, they returned to the Big Sing with the hope of again being selected for the Cadenza, but for the first time in 20 years, they were selected for the National Finale! And once again they have been selected for the Stand Up Stand Out finals.

The students have worked hard this year to prepare for these opportunities including a recent 2 day camp to work on their skills and repertoire.

Even though the Finale is in Auckland there is still a large cost to attend this event and accommodate the students in an inner city Hotel so they can soak up all the Finale offers.

The school fully supports the Choir in their quest and the Choir will continue to fundraise and are available to book for a performance to raise funds that are a shortfall of the school contribution. These students show the school values of R-espect, E-xcellence, W-hanangatanga and A-koranga

Use of funds

Accommodation, food and bus travel to allow students to prepare for the finale.
