Canterbury
Last year over 800,000 people took their own lives. What if someone close to you died by suicide, there's no where to turn without being put on a waiting list.
If you suspected someone was suicidal would you know what to do?
In 2013 I attempted to take my life whilst battling undiagnosed post natal depression, I’m a male.
Through some great peer support I managed to come through the other side.
Then in 2014 I decided I couldn’t sit back and do nothing so I created a Facebook page.
Since then the page has gradually grown and the use of it has dramatically changed.
I have since had to bring on other admin to help with the running of it.
We are all volunteers that come from lived experience of suicide or mental health battles.
We are not a registered charity (yet) however we are in the process of becoming one.
We now have a following of over 230,000 people and our admin respond to on average 150 new messages a week.
We have now decided we want to start taking the impact we have on social media out in to the real world.
We intend on doing this through running campaigns to raise awareness, running courses to assist in prevention and intervention training and also hosting events in communities to raise the level of connectedness.
In September 2018 we ran the #LetsChalkAboutMentalHealth campaign and over 27 cities around the world took part.
However all of this costs money and as we are all volunteers this is where we get stuck.
So we are asking for your help to help us help others by #KillingTheStigma.
It's going to be used to host and run the workshops, forums and events.
To have these we need to be able to hire venues and pay for the speakers and forums hosts.
Also if there are any people that want to attend but are unable to due to cost we want to be able to subsidise the costs so they are more accessible by more people.
We will use the funds donated to run campaigns to raise awareness, run courses to assist in prevention training and go towards event costs.

Sorry for the delay in transacting this grow donation match - I ended up locked out for donating too much & had to get someone else to match this on my behalf. Sorted now though.
