Providing aid and supplies to help victims of the recent Nepal floods rebuild their lives and start over
Takaka, Tasman
You might not hear much about it in the media anymore, but for the people affected in Nepal, the story is far from over.
Hi! My name is Damian.
I came to Nepal with the idea of helping out. I contacted numerous organisations, but most of them told me one thing: “We need to wait. It’s too dangerous to go now.”
Then, completely by coincidence, I came across GB Friends of Nepal. Two days later, I was on a bike with Pemba and Bhupal, two guys who genuinely want to help. I was fortunate enough to join them.
Standing in the middle of the affected area made me realise just how enormous the impact was. Even though I have previous experience in flood relief, this was beyond my imagination.
But behind the disaster, there are people. Whole families are still living in tents, facing an uncertain future. Bhupal and Pemba have done an amazing job delivering essential supplies, but we all know that more is needed.
I’m setting myself a personal challenge to raise NZ$2,000 to support this work, even after I leave Nepal. It’s very important to me to invest my money and effort in an organisation I trust, and I trust GB Friends of Nepal.
Since its establishment in 2015, GB Friends of Nepal has sent 100% of donations to Nepal to support local communities. All administrative costs are covered separately, meaning every dollar raised goes directly towards supporting people in Nepal.
Any amount is appreciated. Thank you for your support. If you can, please share this fundraiser with others.
