Calling for support as the 14 year old youngest university student in New Zealand is unable to fund Master's studies moving forward.
Auckland
I'm Alisa Pham, a 14-year-old student of Auckland University of Technology, where I made history in 2024 as New Zealand's youngest graduate. In 2021, I competed as a finalist in the International Blockchain Competition, winning a Bronze Medal in Education against teams from over 200 countries.
In March, the New Zealand government funding cuts have left Auckland University of Technology without many scholarships, making my $47,000 Master's degree financially out of reach for my family.
Pursuing this Master's program allows me to contribute to the global development of Artificial Social Intelligence in cybersecurity and systematic risks—an area vital to businesses yet exposed to malicious threats targeting AI software libraries. With insufficient frameworks to counter such vulnerabilities, I aim to create a practical framework implementation for AI in efficient sustainable resource management for communities.
Despite being the Top 100 Child Global Prodigy and MENSA member, my family has sacrificed everything for my education, using up all our savings over the past eight years. As an international student under 18, I don’t qualify for any financial support programs. Under the law at my age, full time work is not an option, making education my only pathway forward. In NZ, employers are very hesitant in recruiting such young people.
Your donations will help be living proof that studying fast and accelerated learning should not be treated as such a hinderance in New Zealand.
Funds will be paid to my sister Vicky as I am under the age of 18
Covering my tuition fee for my one year Master's of Philosophy in Communication Studies program, where I will research AI in communications. If the full amount is not donated by May, the amount will still go towards paying off the tuition costs.
