Please help us achieve Brooke’s last wishes for Mckenzie
Our gorgeous Brooke.
As many of you know, over the past 6 weeks Brooke’s health has deteriorated. What started as painful headaches became so severe she was admitted to Auckland Hospital’s ED, then to ICU.
After numerous CT scans, lumbar punctures and MRI, on Monday 31 July, spinal fluid tests confirmed her breast cancer had spread to the meniscus in her brain. It is the worst place to have cancer.
Her oncologist, who has been amazing throughout, told us that Brooke has only a couple of weeks left, at best a 50% chance of 3 or 4 months. If only we had that time.
We are completely devastated. We have wrapped all love around her and Mckenzie.
On Tuesday Carrick drove Brooke back to Tairua, her happy place, overlooking the ocean with 10 year-old Mckenzie and beloved pets Ori and Monty.
Brooke has certainly faced challenges over the past few years, not least being diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 breast cancer in 2020, undergoing a mastectomy during lockdown and then 6 months of harsh chemotherapy. To be hit with this now seems so very unfair.
Brooke’s final effort is her unwavering wish to protect and provide for Mckenzie. This Givealittle will help provide for Mckenzie’s education at Brooke’s old school back in Auckland.
We know it’s a tough time for so many at the moment. We’re not asking for support lightly, but we know starting this page will give Brooke peace of mind that Mckenzie’s schooling will be taken care of, and to ease financial pressures over the next few months.
I’m a friend of Brooke
Mckenzie’s schooling at Diocesan School for Girls, raising Mckenzie, and Brooke’s last few weeks with us
