Supporting a young athlete's goals of broadening his perspectives, and challenging himself against the world.
Auckland
My name is Chris Benzie, I'm 18 years old undergoing my bachelors degree of Engineering at the University of Auckland, and I have recently been selected to represent New Zealand at the Badminton World Junior Championships held in Spokane, USA. This is an amazing opportunity that I am extremely grateful to be selected for and I hope that you can help me get there.
From a young age, I have always played badminton and it has always been a massive part of my life. Coming from a badminton background, I have been pushed and challenged to always do my best and try my hardest. Thanks to my family, coaches, and association (North Harbour). I also enjoy sharing my love of the sport by coaching the next generation of players.
My ultimate goal is to represent NZ at a global event like the Commonwealth or Olympic games. I have been training hard and it has finally paid off, however the cost of the trip is quite large, and the expenses on my family are very high.
Having the opportunity to play on the World Stage against the top juniors in the world will push me to new strengths, not only physically, but mentally. With over 50 teams and 400 players attending the WJC, I will be guaranteed a challenge.
Badminton in New Zealand is a non-funded sport where all costs for entering tournaments, accommodation and travelling are paid by the individual. It would really mean a lot to me if you could make any kind of contribution that gets me one step closer to the $6,000+ needed for the trip.
Money raised will be spent on accommodation, food, flights, and any other expenses that sum to the $6,000+ cost of the trip.
Cheers Clint! Preciate the dono!
