Help Coach Moose continue his work growing lacrosse in Waikato while managing the challenges of a spinal cord injury.
Te Awamutu, Waikato
Hi, I’m William Chisholm, also known as Coach Moose. Lacrosse is my passion, and I’ve spent years coaching and mentoring athletes in Waikato and Te Awamutu, from beginners to regional representatives.
During a campaign for Senior Nationals, I sustained a spinal cord injury (Cauda Equina Syndrome), resulting in partial paralysis of my lower limbs and affecting my energy levels. Despite these challenges, I remain dedicated to coaching, running lacrosse events, and helping our community thrive.
I need your support to keep giving back to the sport. Due to my injury, I can’t work full-time, but your donation will help me continue coaching, organizing events, and supporting players in our region.
Your support will help with:
- Coaching expenses, equipment, and travel
- Organizing events and programs for players of all levels
- Managing my health while still making an impact
Every contribution ensures lacrosse continues to grow in Waikato.
💙 **Thank you for supporting Coach Moose and helping lacrosse thrive in our community!**
🔗 **Donate now and keep lacrosse alive in Waikato!**
The money will go towards coaching expenses, lacrosse equipment, travel costs, health support, and organizing events. It will also help fund a vehicle upgrade with modifications for my injury, and a hoist to transport my wheelchair and lacrosse gear
Sport is for Everyone — Lacrosse at Adaptive Play 5 June 2026
One of the things I love most about lacrosse is that it was never meant to exclude anyone. The game has its roots in First Nations culture as the Creator's Game — played across communities of all ages and abilities, long before organised sport existed. That spirit is something I try to carry into everything I do with this programme.
Recently I had the privilege of running a lacrosse station at the Te Awamutu Sports Adaptive Play Festival — a community day supported by the Halberg Trust, designed to make sure children with additional needs feel included in sport and active play. Lacrosse was a highlight activity on the day, and watching kids who don't always find their place in traditional sport pick up a stick and light up is exactly why I do this.
Your support helps me keep showing up for moments like these — in schools, at club days, and at events where every child deserves a go. Thank you.
