💛 What Happened
Colette is a dedicated teacher and loving wife and someone who gives so much of herself to others every day.
Recently, while at school, Colette experienced what seemed like a migraine. Concerned, she was sent home to rest. However, when she arrived home, her condition quickly worsened. Her husband recognized something was seriously wrong and quickly called an ambulance.
Colette was rushed to hospital where doctors discovered she had suffered a significant intracerebral hemorrhage—a serious bleed deep within the brain, in an area called the basal ganglia. This part of the brain helps control movement and coordination, and because the bleed occurred on the left side, it has affected the right side of her body and the areas responsible for language.
Right now, Colette is experiencing:
- Weakness on the right side of her body
- Aphasia, which makes it difficult for her to communicate in the way she wants to
She is in hospital receiving dedicated care, surrounded by people who are watching over her with great attention and compassion.
🌱 Looking Ahead
Colette now faces a long and uncertain recovery. She will need intensive rehabilitation—physiotherapy, speech therapy, and ongoing medical support—to help her regain as much strength and communication ability as possible.
