Give Shannon a hand up in his stroke recovery.
Auckland
On Thursday 11th July Shannon got sent home from work feeling unwell. He put it down to a big headache or something similar and went to sleep. At around 5pm he awoke feeling worse and got up only to collapse in the bathroom at home. Luckily Margaret was there as it happened and rushed to his aid.
The ambulance arrived and took him to hospital where it was discovered he had suffered a large stroke which has affected both hemispheres of his brain.
He underwent surgery to clear the blood clots and has since been transferred to the Stroke rehabilitation unit. It’s not known how long he will need to stay or what his rehab is going to look like.
Understandably this is a stressful time for him and his family and it’s uncertain how long his recovery journey will take and what capacity he will recover too. A heart wrenching prospect for someone in their 40s.
Shannon is the main income earner for the family and this has added even more stress for Margaret and the kids.
He is very involved in the NZ stock car industry and has given a lot of his time to others. Now it’s our turn to give back to him and his family in their time of need.
The money will be used to cover expenses and support the family so we can get Shannon back in his feet. And help Margaret to support the kids through their dad’s illness. Any little bit will help and Shannon greatly appreciates all the support they recieve.
A family friend.
