Support for Coopz

  • Cooper needs a miracle

Today the doctors told us the cancer is still in Coopers bone marrow, and that they can’t do another round of treatment while he is so unwell. At this stage, if his body doesn’t heal, the leukaemia will take over without treatment.

He has inflamed intestines and his bowel has stopped moving. He was in so much pain he had to be moved to ICU to be intubated to bring him out of distress and so his body could rest. We were hoping his bowel would wake up, that’s not the case yet.

The doctors can’t do anything else, his immune system is non existent now. Our hope is that his body corrects itself…Cooper needs a miracle. Understandably, the family is beside themselves with worry. We are trying to stay positive, some moments are harder than others.

Please pray for a miracle for Coopz, our brave big wee army boy 🙏

  • Cooper is in ICU

Around 11pm, Tuesday 12th May, Cooper was moved to ICU and is currently on a ventilator. He has inflamed intestines from contracting the Norovirus. Doctors were worried he had a perforated bowel which would mean high risk surgery. CT scan shows no perforation.

The inflammation is causing pressure on his lungs which was making breathing difficult for Coopz while distressed. With him being on the ventilator, he can rest and hopefully allow his body to recover a wee bit. That said, things can change very quickly, but we continue to hold hope that Cooper is going to wake up and continue to improve so he can get through his 2nd round of chemo.

The last 12 hours has really impacted Coopers family. Last night he was surrounded by parents and grandparents. We were all so scared having been told numerous times his chances of surviving surgery and ventilation was low. Right now we are just so grateful it’s not required, and hopeful that this issue will correct itself and his bowel will begin moving again. Still some risk with removing ventilation for Cooper, but he has the most expert staff caring for him right now.
