Raising funds for the family of a child who has Infant Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia awaiting a bone marrow transplant

Christchurch, Canterbury

Cooper was diagnosed with Infant Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a rare form of leukaemia, 3 weeks before his 1st birthday (2022). He relapsed in 2024, ending up in a coma at Starship for 3 weeks.

On 13 April 2026, we found out Cooper had relapsed again. He was admitted to Christchurch hospital the following Thursday and has been undergoing chemo. May 8th, Cooper was moved to Higher Care. In less than 4 weeks, this little body has endured weekly surgeries, had more drugs pumped into him than the average NZder would endure in a lifetime. His condition has deteriorated rapidly.

Cooper is supported by his dad, granny and sister Bella while he is in hospital. Everyday is a journey to try and keep Coopz comfortable, entertained, and attempt to keep his spirits high. As the days go by, these attempts become more difficult the sicker he gets. Dad is unable to work due to being Coopers carer. Together they’ve spent over 300 nights in hospital.

I am Jonny’s partner. It’s been heartbreaking for my children and I seeing such a lively active boy decline so fast. Jonny is an amazing dad and has dedicated his whole life to his son.

Use of funds

Funds raised will go towards paying household bills, travel costs and possibly flights for treatment and Coopers KFC snack burgers (with cheese!!!); not that he can eat them.

Cooper needs a miracle  14 May 2026

Today the doctors told us the cancer is still in Coopers bone marrow, and that they can’t do another round of treatment while he is so unwell. At this stage, if his body doesn’t heal, the leukaemia will take over without treatment.

He has inflamed intestines and his bowel has stopped moving. He was in so much pain he had to be moved to ICU to be intubated to bring him out of distress and so his body could rest. We were hoping his bowel would wake up, that’s not the case yet.

The doctors can’t do anything else, his immune system is non existent now. Our hope is that his body corrects itself…Cooper needs a miracle. Understandably, the family is beside themselves with worry. We are trying to stay positive, some moments are harder than others.

Please pray for a miracle for Coopz, our brave big wee army boy 🙏

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
