That’s a warm and thoughtful message. If you're looking to refine it slightly for clarity and flow—while preserving its heartfelt tone—here's a polished version you might consider:

In case you haven’t heard, Dan has returned to Hastings. After spending a couple of days in hospital, he was discharged home and has now happily settled back into his familiar surroundings.

His recovery will be a long journey, but the arrival of spring—with its sense of renewal, returning light, and gentle warmth—brings much-needed support and encouragement for healing.

The family are close by, with Joce lovingly by his side. Visitors are welcome, and we truly appreciate your kindness in keeping visits short to help Dan conserve his energy.

Thank you for your continued care and support.

While the last weeks have held many a challenge for the Freeman family, they have felt supported throughout by your warm generosity on all levels. One of the most precious gifts is the living relationship between human beings.

Later today Dan will be discharged from Hastings Hospital. He is very happy and looking forward to being home. There is still a long journey ahead that will be managed with the love and support that surrounds Dan, Jocelyn and the family.

    Thank you!
