Any Koha, Aroha, Karakia or Words of encouragement to help Des's road to recovery more comfortable. Give what you can, share if you can xx
Kawerau, Bay Of Plenty
It has been over 2 weeks since we got the phone call that our Son, Brother, and Father Des was in a serious car accident and then receiving the sad news that Des broke his neck and the top of his spine which resulted in him being paralyzed from the waist down. However with his strength and determination we are confident that this will not hold him back as his mindset so far has already shown us how capable he is to get back to his old self.
Des is currently in Middlemore Hospital and over these past 2 weeks, we have had many whānau members come and go taking care of Des to help make his recovery comfortable and stress-free as possible. He is a long way from home and so are his family support team, we are advised that it is his whānau who take care of him during his recovery which can take up to 6 to 9 months. Unfortunately accommodation for our whānau comes at a high cost and one that our whānau can only cover for some time therefore funds raised will help assist with these costs as well as any other medical expenses, given the fact that he may not be able to walk again, we continue to remain positive as this only helps Des get stronger.
My brother has always been hands on, hardworking and would drop anything to help those in need, and I know he and his whānau would appreciate any koha, aroha, karakia or words of encouragement to help guide him on his road to recovery.
Des is my big brother.
Accommodation for his Whanau support team (mum, dad who have traveled home from Australia, Aunties and cousins who travel back and forth from Kawerau to Auckland), and other medical expenses.
