This page supports Eme and his whānau as he begins treatment for aplastic anemia.
Wellington
As many of you know, beautiful Eme has recently been diagnosed with Very Severe Aplastic Anemia, a rare and life-threatening condition where his body has almost completely stopped producing the blood cells he needs to survive.
After several intense months of transfusions, hospital stays, and immunosuppressive therapy (IST), Eme’s medical team have confirmed that the treatment has not been successful. The next step is a bone marrow transplant, the only chance at long-term recovery.
Eme will now be admitted to Starship Hospital in Auckland for several months, while his amazing parents, Renee and Ben, juggle care between the transplant unit and home in Wellington, where their two other children will be staying.
Despite this huge journey ahead, Eme continues to face each day with the same gentle bravery and cheeky spark we all know and love.
While the treatment and accommodation are covered, the financial pressure of months off work, household bills, and the extra costs of split travel, food, and activities to keep Eme comfortable in hospital, are adding up fast.
Anyone who knows Renee and Ben knows how deeply kind, generous, and present they are, always showing up for others. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps lift the load and gives this beautiful family room to focus on what matters most: helping Eme heal.
Thank you so much for your love and aroha.
