Sophie and Josh's baby needs heart surgery in the North island, a two month stay minimum in hospital and at risk of loosing there home.
Canterbury
Sophie and Josh have been in a loving relationship since were 16 years old and now they are both aged 19.
They expecting their first baby which is a wee boy!
Since finding out they were having a child Sophie and Josh were ecstatic and brought their first home, a perfect wee home to raise their future bundle of joy.
On the 8th of November Sophie and Josh's excitement of there baby being a happy, healthy, baby boy was cut short when there scan revealed their baby has a heart condition.
This turned out to be the same condition that Sophie was also born with, which caused her to also undergo open heart surgery and under the cardiac team in Christchurch and Auckland until she was 6 years old.
Due to all of the medications Sophie had to be on as a heart baby she was told buy the specialists that she was infertile and would be unable to ever have children, Sophie was devastated by this news, this is another reason Sophie and Josh were so excited to find out they were expecting a baby boy.
One side of their baby’s heart is growing faster than the other and he also has coarctation of the aorta.
This is also known as narrowing of the aorta. The normal aorta should have a 3mm gap where their baby only has a 1.7mm gap restricting blood flow in and our of the heart.
This will need to be surgically fixed via open heart surgery within 24 hours of there son being born.
Their baby will be placed in an incubator straight after birth and then will remain in one after surgery.
Sophie and Josh reside in Timaru but Josh will be unable to work due to being in Auckland with his family.
Because of this, this young couple are at risk of being unable to make mortgage repayments and may loose there home, Sophie and Josh's perfect little family home.
Any funds donated would be a huge support, no matter the amount, every little bit adds up. Any money donated will go strictly towards mortgage repayments and help towards the family’s living expenses for the 2 months minimum they will need
to stay in Auckland with there son.
Thank you very much for considering Sophie, Josh and there son for your Give a little donation.
I am Sophie's older sister. I am trying to help support Sophie and Josh where ever I can and I know they are going through a difficult enough time with out the possibility of loosing there family home added to that worry. Thank you
