Support for Ismail Family
Canterbury
Zahid Ismail's twin brother Junaid was martyred during the 15 March 2019 terrorist attack; both Zahid and his wife Habiba were witnesses to these atrocities.
Their first-born daughter was diagnosed with a critical heart condition which meant they spent four months of her life at Starship hospital only to have her pass away a month later.
Zahid's last living grandparent passed away in same year and his wife Habiba had a miscarriage during the first level 4 lockdown.
Whilst working full-time Zahid has also taken up more responsibility with the family business, Springs Road Diary where his twin brother used to work.
Recently they were celebrating for the first time since the arrival of their daughter in February and the passing of his twin. They were coping with another birthday since the passing of his twin brother. Celebrations have been difficult to celebrate as the loss of his brother is a permanent devastating grief.
Zahid and his wife Habiba bought a new family home which he has been renovating so that they could move into the home. The house was near completion of a freshly painted makeover only to have caught on fire the same day as his birthday. He now has the added shock of coping with a damaged house.
Whilst they had house insurance, they didn't have content insurance due to not having moved in, so this has impacted them with not having insurance for anything they had moved there or what is deemed content insurance.
Zahid's family needs support to get back on track with their dream home after coping with repeated adversities.
