Help support our family while my partner is going through chemotherapy for stage 4 bowel cancer.

Wellington

On the 30th of June 2023, my partner Jeremy had to have emergency surgery to remove a high grade adenocarcinoma tumor in the right side of his bowel. He was very unwell after surgery and was later told the devastating news that he has stage 4 bowel cancer.

While jeremy was relieved to have had the surgery, he was also told that the cancer had metastasized and spread to surrounding lymph nodes. He is currently having chemotherapy through a portacath in his chest for the best chance of helping reduce the cancer growth and extending his life.

Although jeremy is having chemotherapy, he has been told that the type of cancer he has is incurable. At just 41 years old this was a complete shock for Jeremy and us as a family, time now feels precious to us.

Our wish as a family is to spend quality time together while Jeremy is still well enough. Every little bit is appreciated. xx

Use of funds

Essential everyday costs such as food, petrol, power etc, while myself and Jeremy are unable to work due to his health condition.

Jeremy would also like to be able to go on a family holiday to Australia while he is still well enough.

Where we are at.   1 February 2024

We want to thank everyone who has helped and supported us along the way through our give a little page. Your donation means the world to us. Just want to give a small update on Jeremy's progress and how he's doing. A few weeks ago Jeremy had a CT scan and had a follow up appointment today. The results of the scan show that the cancer is not growing, but it's also not shrinking, it's the same size it was a few months ago,so a bit of a mixed result. Treatment options for the future were discussed and Jeremy will likely start having chemotherapy in a tablet form. For now he gets to have a break for the next month to help his body recover, as the last six months of chemo have caused some significant numbness and nerve sensitivity in Jeremy's hands and feet, a common side affect of chemotherapy. We are also not sure at the moment if we will make it to Australia for a family holiday like we wished to but want to do some more traveling around the north and south island and make some more family memories. Again we want to thank those who have supported us, we really appreciate it. 🙏 💞 🙂
