This is an appeal for financial support for Marina and her family, who are victims of the Christchurch mosque shooting.
Canterbury
Marina and her husband, Tarmizi, and their four children, Fatin aged 19, Haziq 17, Hariz 12 and Hafiz 7, came to make their home in Christchurch about 18 months ago. Marina and her family had been in Christchurch before, from 2007 to 2011, when Marina studied at the University of Canterbury. It was during that earlier stay that they fell in love with Christchurch and New Zealand, and planned to come and live here as soon as Marina completed her work commitments in Malaysia. So it was with great joy that the family moved back here 18 months ago.
That joy was shattered on 15th March 2019 by the shooting at the Masjid Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch. Marina, Tarmizi, Haziq and Hariz were at the mosque for Friday prayer. Tarmizi and Haziq were both shot - Tarmizi was injured and Haziq was killed in the attack. Marina, Hariz and Fatin were severely traumatized. The family has to come to terms with the loss of their son and brother, and they have a long road of physical, emotional and mental recovery ahead of them.
I am a friend of Marina and her family and want to help and support them during this difficult time that they are going through.
The funds will allow Marina and her family time to focus on recovery and to put their lives back on track. The funds raised will be paid directly to Marina and her family.
