It’s been a whirlwind few months for our little family. Mike stopped treatment and we focused on creating memories when he felt well.

Over the past few months, Mike has improved. His eyesight is still poor and he continues to wear a patch (he makes a great pirate), but his mobility has improved, as has his energy. After much thought, Mike restarted immunotherapy last week.

It’s been an absolute rollercoaster, but Mike has handled it like a champ with grace and dignity. We have experienced a lot of lows, and know there will be more to come in the future but right now we are riding this high, trying to create everlasting memories.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over these last few months - it has not gone unnoticed and we feel so lucky to be surrounded by people who continue to show up.

    Annie

Over the last six months, we have moved down to Tauranga, back into our family home. Mike has tried a number of unfunded treatments - all only possible because of the generosity from family, friends and complete strangers. We are eternally grateful; knowing we tried absolutely everything gives us some peace through all this heavy haze. Despite all our efforts and Mike’s determination to fight as best he can, the tumour is progressing. Mike is slowly fading.

We now focus on being a family, trying to create memories when Mike feels well. We celebrated our darling Millie’s first birthday this weekend - a bittersweet day surrounded by family and friends; celebrating our girl who makes these dark days a little brighter. She is our absolute world and she will always know her dad through all the wonderful memories and stories we tell her.

Through all this unimaginable pain, Mike remains my absolute rock. He has continued to put others first, remained resilient through it all and has always shown Millie and me how deep his love is for us. I’m the luckiest girl in the world.

Thank you again for all your support. Your generosity has allowed me to spend time at home with my two best friends - focusing on family rather than work. So thank you.

We love you Mike. We are here, beside you. We will never leave your side.

    Annie

We are overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. Family, friends, colleagues and strangers - you have sent us well wishes, and shown us your love and support through this dark time. We cannot thank you enough.

An update on treatment: Radiation and Avastin are underway and Mike is feeling pretty good. Millie is loving spending more time with her Dad.

    Thank you all for everything

    Mike, Annie and Millie
