Unfortunately a few months ago, Nevi received some news that wasn't expected or very welcoming! Health professionals confirmed that Nevi has Stage 5 kidney failure. It was a shock for Nevi and his whānau to discover such devastating news. Stage 5 kidney failure means that his kidneys are not functioning on their own at all - they are failing! Eventually Nevi will require a kidney transplant. No time frame has been put on this at this stage.
The impact of this has been devastating for Nevi, his partner Teesha and their beautiful wee daughter, Kaia. Nevi is unable to work due to his high health needs and daily dialysis treatments of nine hours per day.
Nevi receives very minimal financial assistance from the government while he is unable to complete his building apprenticeship.
