Oliver has finally been discharged from hospital!🤍

Tuesday 18th Ollie was transferred from Starship to Taranaki Base and on Wednesday 19th Ollie was free to go home.

“Tubie”, a.k.a the NG tube, has come home with us until Oliver gets back his appetite. There is still be a long road ahead of us until Oliver regains all his strength back, but he is heading in the right direction.

Thank you to everyone again for the ongoing support.

    Love,

Hannah, Matt, Oliver and Luke 🙂

  • Hey all friends and family! Another wee update on our little man🤍

We have hit a month since being up at starship and it is safe to say we are missing home!!

We just want to share another big thank you again for the continuous love, thoughts and support throughout our journey so far.

In the past 3 weeks Oliver has made some great improvements! 10th June, Oliver had an abnormality mass in his brain which gave him stroke-like symptoms. He didn’t react to any pain stimulation, had no movement on his left side and was very weak on his right side. So everyday that Oliver moves a little more or shows any signs of improvement is a blessing! He is talking again and has his bossy attitude back again. In the last few days Oliver has taken his first steps again, beginning to crawl around and is constantly wanting to be on the floor playing.

Oliver had to go into surgery again to have the peritoneal catheter removed and a venous catheter put in to begin hemodialysis. This is working in the fact it is cleaning the toxins out of Oliver’s blood while receiving the treatment, however, Oliver’s kidneys are still recovering and they’re not able to maintain his blood levels where they need to be to no longer require dialysis.

Oliver is peeing again and no longer retaining fluid (We never thought that we would be so happy to see a wet nappy!!) We are hopeful that with a bit more time his kidneys will have had enough rest to recover.

We are so happy to see our little Oliver coming back!!

    Lots of love,

    Hannah, Matt, Oliver and Luke.

    Evening all,

We’d like to send out a huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated and sent their thoughts for Ollie. We greatly appreciate your support.

Our wee Ollie is making improvements each day with the amount of movement and talking he is able to do. To see our boy smile and laugh for the first time in 2 weeks is such a blessing!

On Wednesday, after 6 long nights in PICU Ollie was discharged back to the ward.

Unfortunately, Ollie still has a long road ahead of him as he has had some set backs. He has been spiking temperatures, still retaining fluid, leaking from an incision from surgery and his dialysis isn’t working as it should.

He is currently receiving a blood transfusion. Fingers crossed he perks up a bit after it🤞🏻🤞🏻His dialysis has been put on pause for a couple of days to try and get a couple things under control.

Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

    Hannah, Matt, Oliver and Luke🤍
