Support for Sachin and his Whānāu whilst in Starship

It all started with cold and flu symptoms for 3 days, then on Saturday night, the 21st June, he started complaining about unbearable pain in his calf muscles, which then went down his ankles, which turned blue and were very badly swollen.

He was into Tui Medical on the Sunday morning, where the doctors were very concerned about his symptoms, so they put him into an ambulance and off to Waikato Hospital.

The doctors there were also concerned and did not really know what was happening to him, so they helicoptered him to Starship, where they immediately put him into an induced coma and on a breathing tube while they tried to figure out what he had

He was in and out of the induced coma for the first roughly 4 weeks

They still do not know what he has, but are thinking it’s VASCULITIS or ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID

He is now on treatment, they used for patients with cancer and is called CYCLOPHOSPHAMIDE

He is now on his final 5 days of plex, and we are all hoping and praying this will be the last, as he is definitely heading in the right direction and is definitely more like himself now.
