Support for Sam’s 4 children
Nationwide
It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Sam Hes - a beloved son, dad, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. His loss has left an unimaginable void in the lives of his family 💔
Sam’s four beautiful children - Eva (22.5 months), Cohan (4), Dakota (6) and Abby (7) live with and are cared for by Josh (Sam’s twin brother) and his partner Meg, in Victoria.
In the midst of their grief, we’re reaching out to ask for support - emotionally, spiritually, and, if you’re able to, financially. No amount is too small, and simply sharing this post helps more than you may realise.
Donations will go directly toward the costs of bringing Sam from Darwin to his children and family in Victoria, supporting Sam’s children with their immediate needs as a result of his passing, and allowing Josh and Meg to focus solely on the children in the foreseeable future. Funds will also help provide stability as they navigate a life without him in it.
In time, it is the family’s hope to celebrate Sam’s life in Australia. It is also hoped that, in the future, Josh, Meg and the children will be able to travel to New Zealand to bring Sam’s extended family together and honour everything he meant to them.
Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time, and always remember to take a moment to check in on your loved ones.
Sam & Josh are my brothers. I just want to lessen the burden for Josh, Meg and the kids in any way I can 💔

One month since the day that changed everything forever 💔 28 January 2026
Sam isn’t with us just yet, but we have comfort in knowing he is safely in Victoria - so close, and with his spirit watching over us every day 🌞✨
Words cannot express the gratitude we feel to everyone who has been a part of this journey - physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially, nearby and from afar. Very soon Sam will be with his kids, and we’ll be one step closer to getting him back to New Zealand - to be with his family and friends, and to rest peacefully alongside his sister Abby 🤍
