And 2024 saw one new total and permanent injury when on September 5 16 yr 16-year-old Semisi, playing for Wesley College 1st XV, suffered a life-changing TBI. We were delighted to make Semisi our 118th VIP – because all medical advice said he wasn’t going to make it.

Against all odds, on October 21, he was transferred from Akld Hospital to the excellent ABI facility on Ranui. Tuesday 22 July , he was discharged from ABI to home in Pukekohe. His rehabilitation continues physically and mentally with a goal to getting back to school next year.
