Seth is 2 years old and he is currently battling Wilms Tumour - a rare child kidney cancer.
Manawatu / Whanganui
Seth has just turned 2 and currently travelling between hometown of Feilding and both Palmerston North and Starship Hospital for a rare kidney cancer.
After admission to Palmerston North hospital 2 days before Christmas for what appeared to be a little bloating in the stomach, a growth was discovered.
On the 26th December 2020, this family of 6 include Seth, mum Shanelle, dad Ben, sisters Lakaeya 8, Diana 5 and baby Summer 8 months, all arrived in Auckland. Within 24 hours of arrival they were given the news that Seth has a tumor the size of a coconut. The tumor has invaded one kidney, and started to attack the other.
Urgent surgery led to the removal of the one kidney which had been destroyed by the cancerous tumour, intense treatment of chemo is underway to work to save the other.
life for this whole family has been tipped upside down, and the road ahead still holds so many battles and unknowns.
This page is to show support and support costs for the family so they can stay focus on supporting Seth and remove financial stresses while the go forward.
Every donation as so gratefully received.
Seth is my nephew. His dad Ben is my brother
Any funds raised will be used to support costs for the family so they can stay together and then journey forward with Seth and what ever help he may need in the months ahead.
Chemo and the remaining kidney 9 March 2021
We've been waiting to see how Seths remaining kidney is reacting to the chemo, today we know a little more.
Ben and Seth got back from Auckland this afternoon, and it's looking like his remaining kidney is working at 50%.
Seth will have another scan in about 3/4 weeks to determine if the chemo has made the tumor shrink anymore. If chemo isn’t working, they are saying be prepared to undergo surgery again. Along with that the possibility of him losing his remaining kidney.
If this is the case he will have to be on at home dialysis until he is eligible for a transplant (transplant eligibility won’t happen until he is 2 years of chemo free).
Coming home today from the airport, Ben was covered in Seths hair. He had a lot of missing clumps and has been shedding badly for the past week.... so today what was left was shaved off.
In a beautiful act of love and solidarity, mum Shanelle and dad Ben too joined Seth by shaving their own heads, ben his beard too :)
Ben and Shanelle want to thank everyone for their thoughts and support, this givealittle page has made the difference in enabling Ben to be at home and do the hospital stuff, which is where he's most needed right now.
With gratitude and love.
