Amy asks
So sorry to hear about little Seth and his battle with Wilm's Tumor. I used to work at St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, USA. There they have pioneered a technique known as "Nephron Sparing Surgery" which is useful to preserve the remaining kidney in cases of bilateral Wilm's tumor. I just wanted point this out to Seth's family and doctors in case this could be an option for Seth if they are unable to perform surgery in NZ. St Jude's may be able to help cover costs if a family do not have medical insurance. Alternatively surgeons at St Jude's may be able to advise on surgical approaches. Here are some links to more information: https://www.stjude.org/treatment/services/surgery/solid-tumor.html#1351cb06a070b4b7512ea23922f5b7a677106e42f07b71b7be6432918220b183=3 https://www.stjude.org/patient-referrals/refer-a-patient.html.

I hope this information is of some help. Best wishes to Seth and whānau - Kia kaha!

Thanks so much for this.
I've just forwarded it to his mum and dad who are today in Starship getting a scan on the second kidney to determine surgery plans.
