Support Shona Proctor McGrath as she recovers from a serious mountain bike injury which has left her paralysed from the chest down.

Shona Proctor McGrath and her family have been valued members of the Canterbury Track Cycling Club for most of the last decade. Shona has been a competitive masters athlete winning numerous medals while representing Canterbury. She became a Commissaire and has been an official at both Regional and National events. Shona has coached and encouraged children on the track in Canterbury and is a passionate supporter of local cycling. She is inspirational and is always keen to help when needed.
In early January Shona had a very serious mountain bike accident which has changed her life. She damaged her cervical spinal cord and transacted her spinal cord at T5, amongst other injuries. She has been left paralysed from the chest down, meaning she will be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. For those who know Shona, you will know that even though this is life changing Shona will continue to inspire those around her and face these challenges with resilience, perseverance and a positive attitude.
Things will be new and challenging for Shona and her family but we know she will continue to think of inspire others. If you wish to help Shona and her family while they adjust to her new life then please feel free to give a little through this page.

Shona has been a member of the Canterbury Track Cycling Club for many years and is a respected member of the Canterbury cycling fraternity.
Funds raised will assist with the purchase of a suitable outdoor wheelchair, alterations to the house and section, purchase of clothing and shoes suitable for ease of use in wheelchair and ongoing physiotherapy and gym.
