On Saturday 12th April, we suddenly lost Simon Williamson. Simon was a father and well-respected member of the NZ Arboriculture community.
Auckland
On Saturday 12th April Simon was doing something he loved, touring on his motorbike with friends in Taranaki. They had stopped to walk to a beautiful creek when he had a heart attack. His sudden passing is a huge shock and the family are still coming to terms with life without Simon's smile and enthusiasm.
Simon was a well-respected arborist who worked with integrity and a passion for trees in his company, Arbor Vista. He influenced and mentored many young arborists over his esteemed career, and contributed generously to Kauri protection, NZ Arb and The Tree Council.
Simon's leaves behind his daughter Esme, and her mother, Sam. We are raising funds to help with funeral costs and expenses over the coming months as the family tries to come to terms with their grief and loss.
‘Kua hinga te tōtara o Te Waonui a Tāne’ - A tōtara in the great forest of Tāne has fallen.
Climb high Simon, we'll miss you!
