Please support me in the journey of shifting culture & empowering young people to find their purpose & celebrate their strengths

"What will happen when we think about what is right with people rather than fixating on what is wrong with them." - D. Clifton.
This quote is a guide for my life. As a qualified social worker and someone who spends a good portion of my week volunteering and working with young people I am often having to consider the world from different perspectives and navigating team dynamics.
Understanding my strengths and completing strengths coaching has provided me with insight into myself and those around me. I am now looking to take the next step and become a strengths coach in order to better be able to encourage and empower the youth of today; the current and future leaders of the world.
So often we choose to focus on the things that are wrong with ourselves, our weaknesses or our faults. The language and model of Clifton Strengths flips this thinking to acknowledge each persons uniqueness and strengths within. Strengths Coaching unpacks the results and provides tools to apply the insights to everyday life.
My vision is to see a city and nation that encourages each and every person to be who they are designed to be, regardless of age, gender, experience, or ethnicity. That people will be confident in themselves and their abilities and that we will be able to recognize the strengths and skills of everyone. That rather than trying to fix people, or telling them that they are too young, or too old, that we will empower them to use their voice, to follow their dreams, and support them in doing so.
Becoming a Strengths Coach is the next step in my journey of achieving this vision, this dream for a glass half full society that is not afraid of difference but embraces it. The skills and knowledge will help me to be a better social worker, youth worker, mentor, and team player.
Please help me by donating, small or large, to complete the training this August in Hamilton. Your assistance financial or otherwise is greatly appreciated. For more information on Clifton Strengths, check out http://www.strengthsnetwork.org/what-is-strengths
For those of you who are already familiar with Clifton Strengths my top 5 are Achiever, Connectedness, Strategic, Responsibility, and Learner so you'll know that when I set my mind to something, there's always a bigger plan and purpose in play.
Thank you so much for helping this dream become a reality! Aroha nui!
Money raised will go towards the cost of the course and travel from Christchurch to Hamilton for the Training in August 2018
