Support Jet's Recovery - precious feline furbaby mauled by dogs
Raising funds to help with JetStar's emergency veterinary care.

Jet (affectionately known as JetStar or Jumbo Jet) is one of Debbie's two beautiful feline furbabies. Jet was a rescue cat adopted by Debbie several years ago, and has stayed by her side during her move to Papakura to be closer to her family. On Thursday 27th June, Jet was sitting on his driveway when two roaming dogs chased and mauled him. Debbie was luckily working from home and heard the loud disturbance outside, and was able to chase the dogs away - but not before they managed to give Jet multiple life-threatening injuries and a fractured jaw. Jet was rushed to the emergency vet and stabilized. His jaw was wired and wounds sutured. He now faces a long, expensive recovery.
Debbie absolutely adores her cats, and did not hesitate to approve the emergency care that saved Jet's life, but it is a large bill that was not expected, and there will be ongoing medication and revisit costs while Jet recovers. Thus far Deb has paid over $2,500 for Jet's care. While many people would say that emergency vet care is wasted money, Deb's two cats are truly her babies, and she did not think twice about the cost to save Jet's life. As a single income earner, any support with Jet's medical bills would be incredibly appreciated.
The dogs have bee reported to Animal Management, but unfortunately were not located on the day.

From JumboJet to JetStar 4 August 2024
A small update from Jet. He is doing well and has sustained his 1kg drop in weight, but is eating and drinking and lots of sleeping inbetween. He has been confined to a big pop-up pen, but has room to move around, and is situated next to his own heater. He's back in tomorrow (Monday) for his regular visit; and then again on Thursday to have his jaw wire removed (yipee) and to close an open wound in his tummy. The vet purposefully left this open, so he's back in for, hopefully, his final dose of surgery - this has been incorporated into his previous costs - and all thanks to your contributions. We will update you again after Thursday. He is comfy, his bedding is changed daily and he is purring. Hopefully he only has to be confined in his pen for another couple of weeks, and then we will slowly reintroduce him to his beloved home surroundings and his favourite sleeping spots. Sending you all again our thanks - Deb, Jet(Star), Sammy and Family (including Cosmo who is very keen to have his mate back out and about).

Please, please accept our heartfelt thanks for your amazing gift and donation towards our wee Jet. I hope you accept our apologies for this late response, however I was sure I had 'sent' a previous message and this has not eventuated. From our hearts, thank you. We have been overwhelmed by the support and care and love, and it makes this journey all the more worthwhile. I/we would never give up on Jet - he is so precious and such an amazing wee boy. Consistently throughout his treatments and surgeries he has shown such patience and acceptance. He knows that his human family love him. The vets and the staff at the clinic are consistently relaying that he is absolutely one of the best patients they have ever cared for. He never tries to hurt them and does his utmost not to react when they are treating him. They said it is obvious that he has been nurtured and treated gently, and therefore his trust in them has been astounding. So thank you for believing in our little boy xxx
