Help Grandma pay for her medical costs

Hansaben flew into NZ prior to Covid to spend time with her Daughter (Jikisha) and her family. She was booked to return to India in march 2020 but the borders closed all over the world leaving her stranded in Nz.

Fast forward to 9th January 2021 Hansaben woke up fine around 5am on Saturday morning took a body break, walked back to her room, checked the time and went back to bed as it was way too early to wake up. Later that morning around 8am she got up and was getting out of bed when she fell off her bed. Hearing the noise her Son-in-law (Nilesh) rushed to her room and assisted her while calling out to his wife Jikisha. They assessed her and realized her speech was slurred and she had lost sensation in her left arm. The couple immediately called for an ambulance and Hansaben was taken to Auckland hospital for further treatment.

The doctors have diagnosed her with having had a stroke with some bleeding on the right side of the brain. This has left her paralysed on the left half of the body and that she will need treatment and therapy to assist her with recovery.

Under normal circumstances travel insurance etc. would have helped but having been stranded in NZ due to Covid, grandma does not have any insurance cover. Hansaben at the age of 70 is a very active lady. She enjoys going for long walks and cooks up a feast for anyone who comes home. The stroke and subsequent paralysis have left her needing a wheelchair and care.

Nilesh and Jikisha are on a single income with 2 young kids. The couple are currently juggling between job, home and the hospital to keep things afloat.
