An opportunity to support Julian to work towards his goals to walk independently and improve communication at the NAPA Centre in Brisbane.
Auckland
If you know this little superstar Julian, you will know a bit about some of the huge achievements he has had to date. He is a busy toddler, proud big brother, dinosaur enthusiast, and at 2 years old was diagnosed with GAND (GATAD2B Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorder). GAND is a rare genetic condition which causes developmental delays, low muscle tone and apraxia of speech. Julian is the only known person in NZ with this condition, and was the 282nd diagnosed in the world!
What we often don’t see is the hard work and dedication from his Mum (Olivia) and Dad (Ashley) that support him with endless appointments, encouragement and a loving home. As we all know it takes a village to raise a child and this family have an awesome village around them. Now it’s our chance to pull together and support Julian on an amazing opportunity he has to attend three weeks of intensive therapy in Brisbane at the NAPA Centre in February/March 2024. This will give him the boost he needs to keep on smashing his goals to walk independently and improve his communication skills.
If you would like to support financially please follow the link, but as importantly please leave a message for Team McLean so they know that we are all here to encourage Julian on this exciting journey.
I am one of the many people in Julian's Village that are privileged to call the McLeans friends.
Funds raised will go towards Julians NAPA centre fees, flights and accomodation.
Final Update from Julian’s Mum 24 March 2024
An update from Olivia -
“Julian has just finished his 3 week intensive therapy at the NAPA centre in Brisbane and he has done absolutely incredibly. His physical ability has improved beyond what we could have imagined, he’s taking several independent steps, learning to balance himself and has learned how to stand up. His communication and ability to eat have made some great improvements too.
Thank you so much again for all your support & love - we are beyond overwhelmed and overjoyed for what this experience has done for Julian & our family.”
