Support Laura as she fights to recover from a serious brain injury and get back to her new born baby

$4,325 of $4,000 goal
Given by 70 generous donors in around 3 months

Raising funds as a show of support to Laura who after giving birth 3 months ago, has now suffered a serious brain injury.

Christchurch, Canterbury

After battling severe endometriosis her whole life, and being told her ability to conceive would not come easy, Laura defied all odds and fulfilled her dream of becoming a mother. 3 months after her gorgeous baby Grayson entered the world, Laura suffered a serious brain bleed. The long term effects are still unknown and her recovery is going to be a journey that requires strength and determination. Laura is one of my oldest and dearest friends and I know she will battle and do whatever she can to get better and be there for her family. As a friend, Laura has always been there for me so as a way to show love and support I am kindly asking for donations to show Laura that her community is with her and that she and her family are not alone in this challenging time. All donations will go into Laura's account to help with her rehabilitation and also provide immediate relief for Laura's young family.

Update from Laura's sister Erin 💗  29 October 2023

Hello Facebook Family and friends

Laura is still in hospital (2 weeks now) She has days where she is more confused than others this particularly affects her short term memory.

She is still getting headaches and is particularly struggling with lights and sounds

Since last Friday she has been up walking the wards (with Nurse aides watching her for balance.) When she has the energy otherwise she is still sleeping a lot between visitors.

This also means visitors are restricted so we can allow her lots of rest and healing time.

This week she is starting Occupational and Physical therapy with the plan to move her to Burwood hopstal soon.

Please continue to send her your love, prayers and healing energies.

With love from my family to yours 💚

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
