Say YES to Māori Representation in Whakatane, help us campaign for our Whakatane Community to Vote Yes in the referendum on May 19th 2018

Bay of Plenty

Tautoko Māori is a community organisation supporting the establishment of Māori Wards in the Whakatane District. To do this we are campaigning to get the message out to our Whakatane Community to Vote Yes in the upcoming referendum being held on May 19th 2018.

Nga mihi, thank you so much for your support and generosity.

Toni Boynton's involvement (page creator)

In November 2017, I made a submission to the council to support the establishment of Māori Wards, it was about seeing a future for my children where they saw themselves reflected in the leadership of our community and that participating and sharing their Māori World view was normal and helped to benefit our whole community. We represent 43% of the population but have no representation on Local Council. Having Māori Representation in Whakatane Council acknowledges that we are accepted as an integral part of this community.
