Support Marina in her quest to compete in Texas at the world Adaptive CrossFit games in September.
Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui
I’m a nutritionist and adaptive CrossFit athlete from Palmerston North, New Zealand.
At the age of 15, a diving accident left me paralyzed from the chest down, drastically altering the course of my life. I spent nine months in the hospital followed by years of rehabilitation and activity-based therapy. Through the constant, endless support of others, and by God’s grace, I slowly learned to function again.
Movement is so much more to me than ‘fitness’. The more I get to move, the more I get to experience. For me - movement is the best pain relief and reminds me everday what an incredible gift it isIn February this year, I began attending CrossFit classes at CrossFit MANA. Shortly thereafter, I competed in the CrossFit Open alongside other quadriplegics worldwide. This led to an invitation to the Adaptive Semifinals qualifier and then to Torian Pro in Brisbane, Australia. CrossFit has challenged me in new ways, and has grown my strength and skills needed for daily life.
Now, I have the incredible honour of being invited to the Adaptive CrossFit Games in San Antonio, Texas, in September 2024. However, this journey is both long and expensive, particularly with the additional costs and complications of traveling with a disability. This is where I humbly seek your support.
I am overwhelmed by the amount of encouragement I have received since starting CrossFit, and I am excited to be given this incredible opportunity. Thank you for your support and for cheering me on!
Warm regards,
