Hello! My name is Zach Saunders, sport captured my interest from a very young age and I took every opportunity to participate in as many sports as I could before finding my feet in athletics. My passion for athletics grew, becoming part of the Pakuranga Athletics Club at age 12, I haven’t looked back since.
In recent years, I have specialised and focussed on developing as a sprinter, particularly in the 200-metre sprint, winning New Zealand Under 18 and Under 20 age group titles which led to competing at several international meets, notably the incredible opportunity of participating at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where I represented my country of birth, Jersey.
Later this year I am planning on travelling back to Jersey, to target the UK National Championships at the end of June. This will ultimately expose me to some of the best and most competitive environments in athletics in search of further developing my craft as a sprinter with goals of future pinnacle events such as World Championships, Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
Use of funds
Any support will be much appreciated and valued as it will go towards travel and competition costs to and around the UK and Europe, increasing my opportunities and experience as an athlete.

Hi all,
Today marks a month in the United Kingdom. I have managed to do a fair bit of back and forth between Jersey and London to compete, and I feel the experiences that I have gained so far have been invaluable, and exactly what I had hoped for them to be.
I've had a share of everything when it comes to race results, including a wind-assisted personal best in the 100m, along with my first disqualification for a false-start in more than 6 years. But that's all part of the sport.
As said in my first update, all support towards these experiences is appreciated beyond words, and I am very grateful. With one competition remaining (7 July) before returning to New Zealand, I hope to finish my 'European Season' on a high.
