From South Africa to New Zealand: My Nursing Dream
Whangarei, Northland
Hi, my name is Nirvana, and I’m asking for your support to help me complete my final year of university.
Almost three years ago, I moved from South Africa to New Zealand to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. It hasn’t been an easy journey. As an international student, my tuition fees are around $30,000 per year. To make my first two years of study possible, my dad took out two large loans so I could continue my education.
As I’m on a student visa, I’m legally limited to working 25 hours per week during the semester. While I work as much as I’m allowed to, it’s simply not enough to cover my tuition fees and living expenses. I do everything I can to support myself, but the financial pressure has become overwhelming.
Now, as I enter my final year, I need help paying my tuition fees while also easing the financial burden those loans have placed on my family. My dad has sacrificed so much to give me this opportunity, and I want to do everything I can to help repay that kindness.
Every donation will go directly towards my final year’s tuition fees and helping my dad repay the loans that made my education possible. If you’re unable to donate, sharing my fundraiser with others would mean just as much.
Becoming a registered nurse isn’t just my dream—it’s my chance to give back to the community that has welcomed me and to build a better future for my family. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me in reaching the finish line.
Funds will go towards my final year nursing tuition fees and help repay the loans I have for my study fees.
