Support Oscar’s journey to recovery

  • Urgent Medical move for funded treatment leaving NZ for England on Friday.

      11 May 2026

Oscar has now finished his radiotherapy treatment. The treatment has been brutal and has left him extremely tired and with very little energy as he continues his recovery journey.

Following medical advice, Oscar and Anna have made the difficult decision to return to the UK and go on Friday 15th of May, where he will have access to funded immunotherapy medications that are not available in New Zealand and that are standard treatment in many other countries (including Australia).

This week they are packing up their flat and belongings before returning to Darlington in the UK, where they will initially stay with family. In time, they will need to find their own space so Oscar can properly rest and recover while Anna supports him through treatment. At this stage, Anna is still awaiting registration approval before she is able to work.

The financial pressure of relocating countries while facing ongoing medical treatment and loss of income is significant. Thanks for helping this far and if you are able to help in any way — whether through a donation, sharing this page, or simply sending support — it would mean so much to Oscar and Anna during this incredibly challenging and uncertain time.

Thank you all for the kindness, generosity, and support you continue to show them. ❤️

  • The journey continues

      27 April 2026

    Hi everyone,

We wanted to share an update on Oscar.

Following an unexpected hospital admission due to another infection, requiring some surgical intervention, Oscar is now back home recovering and on oral antibiotics. It’s been a tough period, but being back home is a positive step.

The current medical plan is for Oscar to continue with radiotherapy. However, due to the lack of funded immunotherapy treatment in New Zealand, he has been advised that relocating to the UK may offer access to further treatment options.

At this stage, Oscar is hopeful he may be accepted into a clinical trial here in New Zealand, which would allow him to receive this treatment without needing to relocate. We are all keeping everything crossed for this outcome.

As you can imagine, this uncertainty brings significant emotional and financial pressure. We are continuing to ask for your support—whether through donations or messages— to help cover ongoing medical costs and the potential expenses involved if Oscar does need to return to the UK for treatment.

Every bit of support, big or small, makes a real difference.

Thank you again for standing with Oscar.
