Support Victoria's overseas cancer treatment

We’re reaching out for your support as we enter the next phase of the treatment journey for our little warrior princess Victoria.

For those of you who don’t know, Victoria was just five months old when we found she had a tumour (ependymoma) in her brain, at the top of the spine, that was rare and aggressive. It was removed in an 11-hour operation the day before Christmas, and since then she’s had seven further surgeries, plus MRIs, CT scans and other procedures – as well as four brutal rounds of chemotherapy.

Victoria has battled through all this and achieved remarkable results – and she’s just had her first birthday.

Now it’s time for the next step – radiation.

For someone so young, the best option for Victoria is proton beam therapy – extremely targeted radiation (essential for someone so young) – but that is only available overseas.

The Starship medical team has applied to the Ministry of Health for funding for the medical fees, but we’re facing a raft of costs associated with this – travel, accommodation and all the associated expenses. And we’ll be away for almost three months.

We’ll be facing more costs while Victoria recovers when we get home.
