Tiki is FIV+. His left eye ruptured long ago and his top canines need removing. He is likely wildborn and sick of rough living.

For FIV Cats it's most important we have two ongoing resources: A long-term foster, and steady finances.

My instincts tell me this boy deserves more. He wants more. I opted out of euthanasia and asked he be desexed and receive treatment for his eyes. 48hrs with him is not enough, especially when his health issues are minor. I'd like to continue to assess him and see how his eyes recover.

Unless big funds are found we can't book in for his dental surgery yet but would like to. Unless a long term foster is found Wainui Whiskers will eventually take him, but it would be nice to get his teeth sorted in the meantime.

Welcome to the RR team Tiki ❤️

He's not "off the bat" friendly, but shows plenty of promise. Likely wildborn or once a stray he is a little overwhelmed but is showing signs of eventual domestication.

Approx 3/4 years old his eyes are chock-a-block full of gunk with a questionable inner eye, his teeth look well used - not horrific, but there is a little mouth gunk and dribbling going on.

I managed to give his eyes a decent clean with a wet paper towel on the end of a wand toy which he appreciated (watch the video). He understands what's going on and is enjoying a comfy, safe and warm place to stay.

We have a drop off vet appointment at Valley Cottage Vets tomorrow where they will assess him for the basics which will also help us to decide what the next best steps are.

Tiki is not aggressive at all but will need a long term foster to care for him and socialise him in his own time. I love Tom Cats and I believe he is worth a second chance, but without a long term foster we unfortunately cannot dedicate ourselves to this boy.

Fostering Tom Cats can take anywhere from 6-12 months as socialising older cats doesn't come with a time limit. The more time spent with them the easier it may become, but every single cat is different.

If you can dedicate some time towards this boy PLEASE let us know. We have temporary placement but we need a permanent one in order to properly help him and keep him in care.
