Support Sally Shanks as she recovers from a stroke.
Auckland
On 10 April, Sally was enjoying one of her favourite summer activities, a high tide swim at Waiake Beach, when she suddenly became seriously unwell in the water. After struggling to get herself back to shore, an ambulance was called. Sally had suffered a severe stroke.
Since then, life has changed dramatically. Sally is currently paralysed down her left side, but there are already encouraging signs of progress and recovery, including movement beginning to return in her left arm. As Sally continues rehabilitation in hospital, the goal is to steadily regain independence and rebuild daily life step by step.
Sally is unable to work or support herself financially during this period, and the reality of ongoing recovery brings significant practical challenges and costs. We are raising funds to help support Sally through the months ahead.
Sally is deeply grateful for the support, encouragement, prayers, and generosity already shown by family, friends, her St Paul’s church family, and the wider community. We are also incredibly grateful for the expertise, care, and kindness of the medical team at the hospital.
Please share this page with friends and family who know and love Sally. Every contribution and message will make a meaningful difference as she focuses on recovery.
I'm Lou Bridges, Sally's friend.
Donations will go towards:
-unfunded rehabilitation and recovery support
