Following brain surgery to remove a tumour, Jake is now undergoing a minimum of 7 weeks radiation therapy. Help support the Bickfords x
Wellington
The beautiful Bickfords, Ange, Rob and Jake, need our support. Following an MRI scan in late January, it was discovered that little 3 year old Jake had a tumour in his brain and was swiftly flown down to Christchurch for surgery. All things considered, the surgery went well and they managed to remove all of the cancerous tumour. However, the journey is not over yet. In the next few weeks, Jake will begin a minimum of seven weeks of radiation therapy, and depending on the outcome, additional treatments may be required.
Fortunately, thanks to the NZ health system, medical costs are covered. However, Ange, Rob and Jake will be required to stay in Christchurch while Jake undergoes treatments, meaning they'll be away from their home, jobs, and wider support networks for the next few months.
We want to give back to a family that has loved and supported so many of us over the years. As you might imagine, this is an extremely difficult and overwhelming time for Ange, Rob, Jake and their family. We know there will be a lot of you who will want to show your love and support to them. So this Givealittle page is a way for us to do that by donating and leaving messages that Ange and Rob can read and appreciate in their own time.
This Givealittle has been a joint venture between many people, including Christie, Amanda, Lana, Lance, Jayne, Lydia, Andrew, & Harriet.
Funds will help cover ongoing living costs during their stay in Christchurch, including accommodation for their parents to visit and support them. It’ll also take some of the pressure off day-to-day expenses back home during and after Jake’s treatment.
