Fundraising to Volunteer at the Soweto orphanage centre in South Africa

My mission is to focus on the worthy cause & participate in a volunteer programme with the NZ based organisation - www.iwh.co.nz (international Working Holiday ). I have selected the Soweto Orphanage project. This opportunity would be for 8weeks & consist of many daily & nightly duty’s. I feel I can be of the right nature & support while being in Soweto.. The specific tasks and activities involved range from but not in that order -

* Food preparation in child feeding programs

* Help out in the nursery with babies

* Assistance in taking care of orphaned children aged from birth to 18 years

* Assisting with children's homework

* Personal interaction with children to help with social development

* Basic building and maintenance projects at all the homes which are in constant need of repairs and general upkeep

* Playing games and offering fun programs on weekend and holidays, like arts and crafts

* Help with hygiene and health education amongst the children and community

* Volunteers also get the chance to spend 2 days a week at the Elton John sponsored sister centre – Masibambisane which is an after school care for local school kids. The centre was designed to keep kids off the streets after school.

I am aware of the drastic rise in HIV & AIDS related deaths & the hardship faced by poverty within the community of Soweto , with your help i would be able to focus on the children so desperately in need of round the clock care & provide social activities & care ..
